Healthy Start for Texas Teeth Community Service Grant
                  

Purpose

The Healthy Start for Texas Teeth Community Service Grant fosters collaborative efforts between individuals or local components of the Texas Dental Hygienists' Association and community agencies providing the preventive benefits of fluoride varnish and oral health care education to serving unserved and underserved populations in Texas.

Applicant Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be a current ADHA member
  • Applicant must be either licensed dental hygienists or a student pursuing a degree in dental hygiene
  • Current ADHA Institute Board of Directors, ADHA Board of Trustees, and members of the Community Service Grant Review Committee may not apply as principal investigators
  • Texas Dental Hygienists Association components, Texas dental hygienists, and/or dental hygiene students (partnered with registered hygienists) are eligible to apply

Program Eligibility Requirements
  • Grant monies are for community-based fluoride varnish programs for unserved and underserved populations in Texas
  • Minimum number of varnish applications is 2 per person within a 12-month period
  • Minimum number of participants to receive varnish is 200
  • Maximum administrative costs for the program must not exceed 25% of the total award amount (i.e. $250.00)
  • Fluoride varnish program must include an educational component
  • Program must include a collaborative partnership between 3 or more entities (e.g. TDHA, Head Start, and Dental Hygiene School)
  • Program must demonstrate an effort to refer participants to a dental home
